Manufacturing by hand, or handufacturing as we like to call it, is at the heart of our company, it’s what makes us American Made. Each piece we imagine, design, prototype, slipcast, throw, sand, glaze, and finish is nurtured by many hands. We’re raising manufacture to art, producing what we know best, and encouraging all the earmarks of handcrafted goods in every ceramic ware.
As design and manufacturing technologies become more accessible to makers, we’re taking full advantage and loving every minute. Many times our designs start on a computer screen, undergo 2D and 3D rendering then take shape with a CNC router. Mold plugs and form lines are accurate, offering a custom foundation to build upon, get our hands dirty and finish the object in our studio. Rapid prototyping and 3D printing will be integral tools for future collections that may not make our job easier but our designs stronger. Pairing the best technology offerings of our era with good old-fashioned handufacturing is our life’s work.
